Making Light of The Situation

These aren't your average light fixtures...

Clutch Light by Scott Jarvie is composed of hundreds of plastic drinking straws...pretty clutch

lampDesigner Shiro Kuramata brings an organic, soft lighting solution with this cloth-like lamp.

This isn't your grandma's chandelier. Look up close and you will see the piece is made up of laser cut acrylic monkeys...a fancier version of the "Barrel of Monkeys" of your childhood.

Diesel Brings The Glow

Everything is better when it glows...clothes included.

Get ready for a new trend in fashion for Fall 2009 as Diesel unveils a line of "glow in the dark" accessories and denim. Black lights not included.

'Halo'...the new weapon of choice for graffiti artists?

'Halo'replaces the traditional spray can with light, rather than paint.

How It Works: A spray-can shaped, glass tube has an LED light placed in the cap, which emits light when pressed. When used with a low-shutter speed camera the results are both beautiful and innovative. Artists can create unique works with a variety of colors and brightness settings. Run out of battery? No worries, simply shake the can to recharge. Sadly 'Halo' isn't for sale yet. Until then check these pics out:

Don't You Forget About Me...

Time to pay homage to the man labeled the "philosopher of adolescence"

John Hughes was the genius behind the iconic films Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Pretty In Pink, Some Kind Of Wonderful, Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Hughes' flicks provided a set of characters who anyone surviving those awkward teen years can identify with. Enjoy this remix of classic Brat Pack moments accompanied by Phoenix's "Lisztomania."

So I'm Kind of Obsessed...

Holy Amazing, Batman! Tiny pies!

I'm kind of a sucker for anything that is a miniature version of something I already enjoy. The fine people at Luxirare have made my day with this fantastic idea.

Holes to Hall of Fame Heaven

Finnish-born photographer Markku Lahdesmaki gracefully infuses fantasy into his reality-based images.

No indication as to if the player featured is based on any actual slugger, but we are left to ponder if such a feat could possibly be accomplished, especially with the recent increase of use of performance-enhancing drugs...
(too soon?)

Literature of the Mustachery Variety

Mustachery. Throughout history, many have dabbled in the way of the soup strainer, only to find pain and hardship. Then there are those, the select few, that defined the 'stache. This is a book in their honor, accompanied by stylish illustrations of their nose neighbors.

[Thanks to Jake for his weaving of words on this worthy subject]

Creative Campaign: Bounty

Big spills, no problem! Bounty hit New York and Los Angeles with their over-sized foodstuffs, complete with "steam" and that java smell for the coffee spill.

At time of publish, we were still waiting for input from the man pictured below re: taste/flavor of the Popsicle.

"How Would it Be,
If a House Was Dreaming"

555 KUBIK | facade projection

Take off your reality cap and think about the buildings you pass each day. Ever wonder how they were feeling? Probably not... But say, somehow, they could express themselves to depict how they were doing that day, what they were thinking about. Could be fascinating!

Now, travel to Germany (bring me back a classy stein while you're there, please!) and stand in front of the Gallerie der Gegenwart. The good folks at URBANSCREEN have taken the idea of building facades transforming depending on their "thoughts" and "mood" and put it into action. Gigantic hands move the squares projected on the side of this building, "pulling" them and pushing them back in, creating new windows and colors, and generally entertaining the masses.

Would You?

Quite a commitment! What word/font/phrase/poem/idea would be worth immortalizing in ink?
